Hansorri Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Effective date: September 4, 2026
Hansorri (한소리, "we", "us", or "our") understands that your privacy is important. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the Hansorri applications, including the Windows and macOS desktop clients and the iOS client.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: username, email address, and password provided during registration. Passwords are stored in encrypted form.
- Course information (optional): course names, schedules, and terminology that you add manually or import from timetable images. When you import from a timetable image, the image is uploaded to our servers for parsing to extract course information. The parsed course data is stored on your device by default. Timetable images are used only to complete parsing and are not retained long-term by default. When cloud sync is enabled, your course data (course name, instructor, location and class times) is also stored on our servers so that it stays consistent across your devices.
- Classroom audio: when recording is enabled, microphone audio from the classroom is transmitted to our servers in real time for speech recognition and translation processing. Audio is used for real-time recognition and is not retained long-term by default.
- Classroom content: Class transcripts, translation results and post-class notes are processed on our servers in real time or on request. Session records are stored only on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, transcripts and translation results are stored on our servers and associated with your account, so that your study records stay in sync across your devices. Class transcripts may include what other people in the classroom say, such as your instructor. We keep this only as part of your personal study record; we do not analyse or profile it, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own purposes. Recorded audio is never uploaded or retained — only text is stored on our servers.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers: to support device binding, we generate an anonymous hash based on hardware information. It does not include IDFA, Apple ID, phone number, or other directly identifying information.
- Service usage: used for service usage statistics, account status maintenance, and necessary troubleshooting.
- App version: used for version checks and compatibility maintenance.
1.3 iOS Required Reason API notice
The iOS app uses UserDefaults for app preferences and file timestamp APIs to manage local session archives. We do not use Apple-defined tracking categories and do not integrate IDFA, SKAdNetwork, or similar tracking SDKs.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information only to provide and maintain the core translation service, process classroom audio, transcripts, translation results, course context, and after-class notes, verify identity, manage device authorization, measure service usage, send necessary service notices, and improve service quality.
3. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for commercial purposes. To provide core features, classroom audio streams, transcripts, translation results, course context, after-class notes, or timetable images may be transmitted to trusted third-party service providers for real-time processing. This data is not used for advertising or tracking.
These trusted third-party service providers (including speech-recognition and translation service providers) access this data only to the extent necessary to perform the processing described above, are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations, provide a level of data protection equivalent to this Policy, and do not use the data for their own purposes.
4. Data Storage and Cross-Border Transfers
Our servers are hosted in Singapore data centers. Account data, device identifiers, and usage data are processed in Singapore. All cross-border transfers use HTTPS (TLS) encryption. Course data and session records are stored on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, course data, transcripts and translation results are stored on our servers in Singapore. Classroom audio and timetable images are used only for real-time processing and are not retained. To complete processing, troubleshoot issues, support security review, and measure service usage, we may retain necessary server processing records and logs, usually for no more than 90 days unless a longer period is required by law. Audit records of administrative actions relating to account security and abuse prevention may be retained for longer.
5. Data Retention and Your Rights
Account information is retained while your account remains active. Usage logs and necessary server processing records are usually retained for no more than 90 days. You may contact us to access, correct, delete, or export relevant data.
Content stored through cloud sync is retained until you delete it and does not expire automatically. You can turn cloud sync off at any time in the app and choose to delete the class records already uploaded; deletion takes effect immediately, with no waiting period. Your timetable is not included in that deletion and can be deleted separately.
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your account and its associated data at any time, either (a) in the app under Settings → Delete account, or (b) by emailing support@hansorri.com. Once deleted, your account is deactivated immediately and the class records, transcripts and course data stored in the cloud are deleted at the same time, with no retention period. A single anonymised record of the account itself is kept to prevent re-registration and abuse (email anonymised, third-party sign-in identifiers cleared, devices deactivated). Unused credits are forfeited and are not refundable.
7. Minors
The app is designed for university students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
