What is Hansorri?

A lecture translation app for Chinese-speaking students at universities in Korea. In class it translates your professor's Korean into Chinese as they speak; after class it turns the whole lecture into notes.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, plus Mac and Windows computers. There is no Android version yet. The iOS app is not in the mainland China App Store: with a mainland China Apple ID, switch your Apple ID to another region such as Korea or the US and search for Hansorri, or use the desktop version for now.

How much does it cost?

The desktop app starts with a 30-minute free trial when you sign up, then a monthly subscription in three tiers: 20 hours a month for ₩18,900, 40 hours for ₩34,900, 80 hours for ₩59,900. The iPhone and iPad app is free to download, comes with a limited amount of free translation time, and has no in-app purchases.

How accurate is the translation?

Machine translation does make mistakes, especially with technical terms and names. That's why the original Korean always stays on screen with the Chinese, so you can check anything you're unsure of.

Does it work for online classes?

Yes, in the desktop app: open the 网课翻译 (online class) tab and online lectures are translated into Chinese in real time too. This feature isn't available on Intel-based Macs yet.

What else does it do after class?

Every lecture gets a set of notes in Chinese automatically. Before finals, you can turn a whole semester into a review pack.
